Swedish couple fined for simulating sex 03/19/2010
Sweden has a reputation for being very liberal when it comes to sex. But here's an event that challenges that stereotype: A Swedish court has fined a couple for simulating sex on their patio. Add Comment There are many tales of bad - often criminal - behavior by users of dating sites. These usually involve scamming, stalking and violence. But here is an online dating site horror story that is almost unique: A South Australian cop has been charged with creating a fake dating site profile of his ex-girlfriend (including her contact details) and then using it to lure men to her address. This means of exacting revenge is as diabolical as it is nasty! William Shakespeare wrote: "To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man". Not only is this a memorable line, beautifully worded. It's also very good practical life advice - particularly when it comes to relationships. This was confirmed in a recent study in which people who felt they were being most true to themselves turned out to be the ones who had the most satisfying and healthy relationships. Sexy lipstick could be problematic 03/14/2010
A lipstick that changes color according to the wearer's body chemistry is now on the market in England. It is supposed to reveal when she is in the mood for sex. It sounds like a very cute and clever product. But we might hear some negative press about it before long. At the very least some feminists will be unimpressed that such a product even exists. And I suspect that some wearers will not be happy when men see the color change as a green light for an unwanted sexual advance! John Cleese falls for another blonde 03/14/2010
There's no doubt that people often seek out partners who look very similar to their last love. This is intriguing, since it seems plausible that they might look for someone who appeared very different so as not to be reminded of the pain of breaking up. I think this is because people have buried deep in their psyche an image of their ideal mate that they keep looking for over and over, no matter what. Men, in particular, seem to have a dominant stereotype that they find irresistibly attractive. She might be a mysterious doe-eyed brunette. Or perhaps she's a sleek, energetic young blonde. The latter seems to be John Cleese's preference. Not that long after breaking up with a blonde comedienne who made fun of him in her routines, he has become involved with another young woman of similar appearance. It will be interesting to see if he has more luck this time! Sex.com domain up for auction 03/11/2010
"Sex" is one of the most searched-for terms on the internet. Which is why the domain name "sex.com" is so valuable. It is currently up for auction, and is expected to fetch an astronomically high price, quite possibly a world record. Online dating scams on the rise in Australia 03/10/2010
As internet use increases in Australia, so do the numbers of people who are defrauded online. Online dating sites continue to be favoured by scammers. One of the reasons is that many people who use them are emotionally vulnerable, and therefore conducive to manipulation. Thousands of Aussies have been tricked into handing over money - sometimes huge amounts - and the problem has risen by a factor of 30 percent from last year. The Lara Bingle nude photo scandal - and subsequent highly publicized interview with Woman's Day - has ended up creating a total train wreck. It looks highly likely to end up destroying her relationship with Michael Clarke. (That's something I thought was likely, but didn't expect to happen quite so quickly.) Interestingly, as this article states, Clarke was less annoyed with the photo in question than the dredging up of all that old stuff about a previous relationship with Brendan Fevola. As anyone who's had a few dates knows, it's a real drag when someone keeps talking about their ex. It shows that they haven't quite moved on from it yet! The fact that Bingle was telling the whole nation about it must have magnified the negative effect a thousandfold. No wonder Clarke wants out. Art gallery includes swingers' club 03/10/2010
An art gallery in Vienna has done something very unusual: It has attached a swingers' club to one of its exhibits. Not surprisingly, this has proved to be quite controversial (which was clearly the intention!). Gallery visitors have to walk through the dimly lit makeshift club to see the featured painting. Somehow, I think a lot of people aren't going to complete the journey! Dating site ego trippers the same offline 03/08/2010
Contrary to commonly held stereotypes about users of online dating sites being more likely to exaggerate their achievements while online, in truth there seems to be little such a tendency, or even none at all. Apparently those who "big note" themselves in their online profiles are just as likely to do so in real life. | AuthorI'm a webmaster, blogger and online marketer in Australia.
