Still on the subject of rich, older men and younger women: the celebrity Trinny Woodall (of Trinny and Susannah fame) has recently split with her hubbie. He wasted no time in getting involved with a pretty young thing half her age.

Revealingly, this young model bears a striking resemblance to his estranged wife.

Speaking of men looking for younger models:

Ageing tycoon Jim Clark is about to marry gorgeous young Aussie model Kristy Hinze. Not surprisingly the age difference has provoked a lot of raised eyebrows. But friends of the couple are convinced that the love between them is pure and genuine.

Okay, maybe it is. But you've got to wonder if the relationship would have started if things were different. That is, would he have been attracted to her in the first place if she were his age and overweight? And would she have given him her phone number if he only earned the same amount of money as she did?

I think the answer to both questions is "no way".

Speed dating simply didn't exist until a few years ago. But now, there are events of this kind being held frequently all over the world.

The event style has proved so popular and versatile that it is even being used as the model for mass introductions completely unrelated to love and romance. An example is this "political speed dating" event, in which young people get to meet and quiz local councillors.

One of the sad realities of life is that men often trade their wives or girlfriends in for younger models. This seems to be what Guy Ritchie has done to Madonna, of all women. Ironic, considering that he is so much younger than her himself.

Still, she has consoled herself with a younger partner as well (baseball player Alex Rodriguez). So things seem to have balanced out somewhat.

I didn't think that there was much stigma over online dating left any more. Still, whatever did remain has diminished even further, if a recent Galaxy poll is any guide.
